Youth With A Mission was started back in 1960 when a young man, Loren Cunningham had a vision of waves of young people covering the earth bringing the gospel of Jesus. Its main vision is To Know God and Make God Known through Training, Evangelism and Mercy Ministries.

There are thousands of staff around the world partnering with local churches to help everyone understand who God is and how they can have a personal relationship with God. There are many, many ministries serving and training in a vast array of ways. Simply by getting to know God, hear His voice and then go do what He says together.

If you want to give a few weeks in your summer to go on a missions trip, or 6 months to take time to develop your relationship with God – do a DTS (Discipleship Training School). Or give the rest of your life to missions – you’ll never regret it or be bored. But you will be challenged to step out in faith trusting God with the impossible and see it become a reality.

YWAM’s website gives you all the information you need to get involved but I would recommend taking 6 months to give God and you quality time in a DTS so you can learn more about Him, yourself and the nations. It consists of 12 weeks lecture phase to get to know different aspects of God and missions, then going to a different country to share what you’ve learned for 8-12 weeks.

When I started with YWAM

I did my DTS back in 1997 in Denver, CO (USA) because I wanted to develop my relationship with God and also see what His plan for my life looked like. I loved getting to know my heavenly Fathers heart for me, being challenged to think bigger and see Him use me to be a blessing to so many people. Million’s of young people (and not too young) have gone before you and been surprised at how much they have grown in such a short space of time.

YWAM is literally an international and interdenominational Christian Missions organisation who hear God’s voice then go do what He says. Millions of young and young at heart people from every nation on earth have said yes to taking a step in faith to see God use them to be His hands, feet and voice to others who don’t know who God is but need to know He loves them.

YWAM has 3 main areas:

Evangelism – sharing who God is in different ways in every nation

Training – after doing the entry-level course – DTS, you can do hundreds of different courses and even get a degree with the University of the Nations

Mercy Ministries – from accountants to urban slum ministry team member there are many ways to serve with YWAM. Some you can volunteer for a couple of weeks. Others you can join staff and continue serving for years.
